In the 45th minute the ball was on its way in behind Punto Fijo's goalkeeper Rosalio Zapata, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. After the first half CDM were leading 0-3. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

After a defensive mix-up in Punto Fijo's zone, Alfredo Carballido stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Rosalio Zapata came out of the goal and Alfredo Carballido tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 95 minutes into the match, CDM's goal looked a bit too open when Oxel Elguero came free, but Antonio Buendia reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When Fertus Bueno fell near the penalty area in the 96th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored CDM's protests and gave Fertus Bueno a yellow card for diving instead. In the 96th match minute, CDM was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Fertus Bueno to maneuver through the defense. CDM's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
