Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Nacho Casero in the 12th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Olaf Serra prevented the ball from getting in the gole. If Romeo Rubio had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 14th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After having played for 16 minutes, Herminio Duarte managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. River Plate Catalunya's supporters crossed their fingers, but Herminio Duarte was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After some fancy dribbling in the 18th minute, Romeo Rubio managed to get in a good position for a shot. River Plate Catalunya's supporters rose to their feet, but Romeo Rubio was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Iratze Dellasierra breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Quexal Herrero charged in rather forcefully in the 24th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Quexal Herrero the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Iván Blazquez in the 30th minute of play forced River Plate Catalunya's goalkeeper Olaf Serra to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Olaf Serra showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Iván Blazquez, who was totally free with the ball in the 31st minute. Iván Blazquez recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 33rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 37 minutes into the game, one of Extremadura U.D.:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. The referee gave River Plate Catalunya a penalty, 39 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Olaf Leal, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Extremadura U.D.'s Iratze Dellasierra. 1-0. When Patricio Santalla came up free with the goalie in the 45th minute, the Extremadura U.D. fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Patricio Santalla couldn't finish the play. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Herminio Duarte to make the kick off. An unexpectedly hard shot by Romeo Rubio in the 56th minute of play forced Extremadura U.D.'s goalkeeper Iratze Dellasierra to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 57 minutes into the match, Extremadura U.D.'s goal looked a bit too open when Herminio Duarte came free, but Iratze Dellasierra reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Olaf Serra made a fantastic save in the 60th minute, when Iván Blazquez sent off a good shot on target. 64 minutes into the game, Millán Valerón was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Extremadura U.D.'s manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave River Plate Catalunya the free kick. In the 64th match minute, Extremadura U.D. was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Millán Valerón to maneuver through the defense. In the 69th minute of the match Platon Gasso shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Iratze Dellasierra showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Iratze Dellasierra showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Santiago Olano, who was totally free with the ball in the 71st minute. Iván Blazquez could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 73rd minute of the match, but Olaf Serra made a huge save. In the 75th minute, Nacho Casero fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of Olaf Serra, passed just outside the right post. Iván Blazquez sent away a hard shot on goal in the 87th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Olaf Serra showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Nacho Casero in the 90th minute of the match. When the referee blew the final whistle, River Plate Catalunya could leave the field as winners, despite Extremadura U.D. having more of the ball for most of the match.
