Iratze Dellasierra tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The supporters of Extremadura U.D. booed when River Plate Catalunya was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 19 match minutes in a wonderful position. Santiago Olano didn't get a good kick on the ball. Juan Marquez was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 20th played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. Olaf Serra made a fantastic save in the 22nd minute, when Iván Blazquez sent off a good shot on target. Olaf Serra made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Nacho Casero in the 24th minute of play. After 25 minutes River Plate Catalunya's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Juan Marquez who took care of the corner kick. At last the ball reached Nacho Casero at the corner, ending with a kick to difficult to stop for the goalkeeper of River Plate Catalunya. 1-0. In the 37th minute, Romeo Rubio left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The River Plate Catalunya fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-2. If Herminio Duarte had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 41st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 46 minutes of play, Extremadura U.D.'s Iván Blazquez made it 2-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Olaf Serra was left in no man's land by his defense there! The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 2-2 after a close first half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Iván Blazquez to strike the kick off in the second half. In the 57th minute the ball was on its way in behind Extremadura U.D.'s goalkeeper Iratze Dellasierra, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Olaf Serra came out of the goal in the 59th minute to try and stop a shot by Extremadura U.D.'s Iván Blazquez. But to his dismay, Iván Blazquez quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 3-2. After some fancy dribbling in the 65th minute, Iván Blazquez managed to get in a good position for a shot. Extremadura U.D.'s supporters rose to their feet, but Iván Blazquez was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Olaf Serra breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Iván Blazquez fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 68th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Olaf Serra having to interfere. After 69 played minutes River Plate Catalunya got a freekick which was hit by Santiago Olano. Iratze Dellasierra showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Herminio Duarte, who was totally free with the ball in the 72nd minute. Herminio Duarte's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Iratze Dellasierra read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 73rd minute of play. Iván Blazquez fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 76th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Olaf Serra having to interfere. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Santiago Olano during the 79th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Iratze Dellasierra took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Herminio Duarte, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After a defensive mix-up in River Plate Catalunya's zone, Iván Blazquez stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Olaf Serra came out of the goal and Iván Blazquez tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After 91 minutes of play, Extremadura U.D.'s Iván Blazquez made it 4-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Olaf Serra was left in no man's land by his defense there! Extremadura U.D.'s fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
