The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. An unexpectedly hard shot by Aurelio Soldado in the 18th minute of play forced Orense's goalkeeper Caitano Valdivia to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 24th minute, Neron Sánchez got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Aurelio Soldado received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 27th minute. Caitano Valdivia tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Macerio Llorente blasted a shot towards the goal in the 39th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Caitano Valdivia having to make a save. 43 minutes into the match, Aurelio Soldado had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Caitano Valdivia. Orense's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Aurelio Soldado was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Neron Sánchez in the 47th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Caitano Valdivia prevented the ball from getting in the gole.

51 minutes into the match, Orense's goalkeeper Caitano Valdivia had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Aurelio Soldado. The crowd rose to their feet as Macerio Llorente kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Caitano Valdivia. That made the score 0-2 in the 55 minute of play. Feijo Sampil charged in rather forcefully in the 58th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. After 90 played minutes UD Collerense got a freekick which was hit by Calisto Arenas. Neron Sánchez's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Caitano Valdivia read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 95th minute of play. UD Collerense's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
