After some careless play in the Celtic de Sarda defense, Bernardo Valverde kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Ion Quintas. The Celtic de Sarda fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Ion Quintas should have stopped the shot. After 29 minutes, Cordero Amer made it 0-2 with a short kick to the right side. Celtic de Sarda's Ion Quintas tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. If Cordero Amer had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 35th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 39th match minute, Celtic de Sarda was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Bernabel Vallejo to maneuver through the defense. Typhon Paris received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 42nd minute. Artemio Noya tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After the first half Real sociedad were leading 0-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The audience thought a goal was coming when Cordero Amer got free with Ion Quintas in the 66th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Agustín Parra hit a great freekick 76 minutes into the match. In the 78th match minute, Celtic de Sarda was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Octavio Acarreta to maneuver through the defense. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
