Maximino Acedo made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jotham Pe in the 11th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jotham Pe in the 23rd minute of play forced Barcelona FC's goalkeeper Maximino Acedo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When Mikel Zapatero came up free with the goalie in the 27th minute, the Barcelona FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Mikel Zapatero couldn't finish the play. A throw-in in the 31st minute of the game was made by Silviano Hevia with Nalo Laredo as target, who quickly passed the ball forward. Mar del Plata's goalkeeper couldn't reach when Dalmacio Dagora 32 minutes into the game got a good kick on the ball which found its way into goal just inside left pole. 1-1. Siro Leyva kicked well hit freekick during the 39th minute of the match. Arcadio Pareja was astounded when the referee showed him the red card after a seemingly innocent challenge, 42 minutes into the match. The supporters of Barcelona FC booed when Mar del Plata was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 42 match minutes in a wonderful position. Arcadio Pareja didn't get a good kick on the ball. William Pastor fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 45th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Maximino Acedo having to interfere.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Jotham Pe was the one to do the kick off. Jotham Pe could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 52nd minute of the match, but Maximino Acedo made a huge save. After 52 played minutes Mar del Plata got a freekick which was hit by Nicolás Vilanova. 57 minutes into the match, Mar del Plata's Jotham Pe sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Maximino Acedo narrowly saved just below the crossbar. After some careless play in the Barcelona FC defense, Jotham Pe kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Maximino Acedo. The Barcelona FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Maximino Acedo should have stopped the shot. In the 62nd minute, William Pastor fired away a shot on goal. He put a little to much spin on the ball and sent it just wide of the right post. 66 minutes into the match, Barcelona FC's goal looked a bit too open when Jotham Pe came free, but Maximino Acedo reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. A sloppy throw-in by Silviano Hevia in the 68th minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by Mar del Plata's Nicolás Vilanova. Jotham Pe sent away a hard shot on goal in the 76th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Geraldo Neiva came out of the goal in the 83rd minute to try and stop a shot by Barcelona FC's Dalmacio Dagora. But to his dismay, Dalmacio Dagora quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-2. After some fancy dribbling in the 88th minute, Nicolás Vilanova managed to get in a good position for a shot. Mar del Plata's supporters rose to their feet, but Nicolás Vilanova was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Maximino Acedo breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Geraldo Neiva showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Mikel Zapatero in the 90th minute of the match. If Jotham Pe had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 92nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Mar del Plata's Geraldo Neiva played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Julián Olle in the 94th minute of play.
