Gregorio Vacas tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 17 minutes into the game, Ares's Salvador Huarte nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Esteve Delgado made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. In the 31st minute, Goren Pedrosa hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Apal Montero kicked well hit freekick during the 36th minute of the match. In the 37th minute, Cesaro Diaz made a precise shot to the right of Esteve Delgado. Cadiz CF's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-2. Ares's Salvador Huarte got a good chance for a goal in the 42nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 44th minute, Ares's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Ezequiel Aguilo fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. Ares's Gregorio Vacas proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 46th minute of the match, managed to save Ares from getting a goal against them. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Bero Aguilar to strike the kick off in the second half. Gregorio Vacas showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ezequiel Aguilo, who was totally free with the ball in the 52nd minute. The supporters of Cadiz CF booed when Ares was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 80 match minutes in a wonderful position. Salvador Huarte didn't get a good kick on the ball. Gregorio Vacas made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ezequiel Aguilo in the 81st minute of play. In the 85th minute Apal Montero shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Gregorio Vacas saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line.
