Felipe Sanz showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Blas Beloki in the 10th minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ramón Ramis in the 11th minute of play forced Atlético Tomelloso's goalkeeper Felipe Sanz to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Felipe Sanz took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Blas Beloki, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Gandolfo Munoz did some fancy footwork in front of goal and succeeded to deceive the defenders so he could slam the ball in 1-0 to the left of a surprised Raymond Montiel 18 minutes into the match. In the 28th match minute, Atlético Tomelloso was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Porfirio Velasco to maneuver through the defense. Palamós's Blas Beloki couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 29th minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for Atlético Tomelloso. Rico Calvo received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 30th minute. Felipe Sanz tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After some fancy dribbling in the 41st minute, Fredo Treviño managed to get in a good position for a shot. Atlético Tomelloso's supporters rose to their feet, but Fredo Treviño was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Raymond Montiel breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Atlético Tomelloso's Roberto Saboya got a good chance for a goal in the 43rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 46th minute the ball was on its way in behind Atlético Tomelloso's goalkeeper Felipe Sanz, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Felipe Sanz took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Blas Beloki, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

The wind increased when Gandolfo Munoz made the kick off in the second half. In the 61st minute the ball was on its way in behind Palamós's goalkeeper Raymond Montiel, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Gandolfo Munoz fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 67th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Raymond Montiel having to interfere. Gandolfo Munoz received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 69th minute. Raymond Montiel tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. With a little luck, Atlético Tomelloso's Felipe Sanz got control of the ball when Ramón Ramis tried to sneak it across the goal line. Ramone Vazquez kicked well hit freekick during the 73rd minute of the match. Roberto Saboya struck a weak shot in the 75th minute. Atlético Tomelloso made a substitution. Flavio Soler replaced Roberto Saboya. 81 minutes into the match, Atlético Tomelloso's goal looked a bit too open when Blas Beloki came free, but Felipe Sanz reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The supporters of Atlético Tomelloso booed when Palamós was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 87 match minutes in a wonderful position. Rico Calvo didn't get a good kick on the ball. When the match had gone on for 91 minutes, Blas Beloki took a quick shot and it went in 2-1 without a chance for Felipe Sanz to make any attempt to save it. The Atlético Tomelloso support was delighted with a win in a match that could easily have ended differently.
