Claude Santander showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Higinio Hanot in the 26th minute of the match. The Sporting CP players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Mantequillosos CF were winning 0-6.

In the 62nd minute of the match Mantequillosos CF got a corner. Sporting CP's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Tello Negro ran over to the corner to take the kick. The corner went over the outstretched arms of Sporting CP's goalie and right to Claudinei Guimarães. He fired away a shot at goal, but the shot had too much spin, and it went just outside the goal. Sporting CP's manager breathed a sigh of relief on the sidelines as his team had managed to escape an almost certain goal. Hori Marquez could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 64th minute of the match, but Claude Santander made a huge save. In the 65th minute, Tanek Sniegowski ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Claude Santander was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-7. Hori Marquez sent away a hard shot on goal in the 69th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Claude Santander came out of the goal in the 71st minute to try and stop a shot by Mantequillosos CF's Hori Marquez. But to his dismay, Hori Marquez quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-8. In the 77th minute, Bartolo Casero hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The audience was convinced that Tanek Sniegowski's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Claude Santander was relentless in the 78th minute of the game. In the 83rd minute Tanek Sniegowski shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Claude Santander saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Claude Santander didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Hori Marquez went, in the 86th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-10 was the resulting score. 89 minutes into the game, Esteve Cambero was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Sporting CP's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Mantequillosos CF the free kick. When the match had gone on for 94 minutes, Hori Marquez took a quick shot and it went in 1-11 without a chance for Claude Santander to make any attempt to save it. Mantequillosos CF's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
