Enrique Olano was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. In the 17th minute, Murcia Promesas's Ariel Domenech seemed to kick out at an opponent. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Ariel Domenech the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of Murcia Promesas protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Ariel Domenech had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 17th minute of the game. When the match had gone on for 47 minutes, Bazil Guijarro took a quick shot and it went in 1-5 without a chance for Tancredo Griful to make any attempt to save it. After the first half Murcia Promesas were leading 1-5. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.
