The Atlético de Sagunto fans' excitement grew in the 22nd match minute when Atlético de Sagunto's Asdrubal Prieto looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 0-2 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. When the match had gone on for 25 minutes, Eriberto Waddington took a quick shot and it went in 1-2 without a chance for Loren Prats to make any attempt to save it. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Slavoj Bělík prevented the ball from getting in the gole. After a rather tough play, Atlético de Sagunto's Koke Resurreción got a free kick in the 37th minute. If Currito Salgado had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 38th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Slavoj Bělík took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Xaime Diez, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The long shot by Roeland Spanjer in the 45th minute really tested Loren Prats's skills. The ball was on its way into the goal to the left of him when he managed to stretch himself and save the shot and avoid a goal. The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Asdrubal Prieto stepped up to make the kick off in the second half.
