Tonny Varrild came out of the goal and Thorfinn Pommergaard tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The supporters of Grønbæk booed when Vaabensted was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 20 match minutes in a wonderful position. Kurd Balwin didn't get a good kick on the ball. Volmer Hurup struck a weak shot in the 21st minute. Tonny Varrild didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Grønbæk. 22 minutes into the match, Vaabensted's goal looked a bit too open when Thorfinn Pommergaard came free, but Tonny Varrild reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Preben Elkjær's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 23rdth minute, Henning Nylanda skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Thorfinn Pommergaard in the 25th minute of play forced Vaabensted's goalkeeper Tonny Varrild to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Henning Nylanda was in exellent shape and made a fantastic save when he, in the 28th minute of the match, managed to get hold of the ball after a long shot from Miki Meko. Chrestian Flemin sent away a hard shot on goal in the 29th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Henning Nylanda made an important save on a dangerous shot by Preben Elkjær in the 32nd minute. After a rather tough play, Grønbæk's Reiner Højstevn got a free kick in the 36th minute. In the 41st minute, Sixten Risto got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ulf Tasseron in the 47th minute of play forced Vaabensted's goalkeeper Tonny Varrild to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The wind increased when Chrestian Flemin made the kick off in the second half. With a little luck, Vaabensted's Tonny Varrild got control of the ball when Thorfinn Pommergaard tried to sneak it across the goal line. Miki Meko hit a great freekick 55 minutes into the match. Grønbæk's Henning Nylanda played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Hugo Klintsø in the 71st minute of play. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Preben Elkjær in the 77th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Henning Nylanda saved Grønbæk from getting behind. Thorfinn Pommergaard could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 80th minute of the match, but Tonny Varrild made a huge save. The audience was convinced that Preben Elkjær's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Henning Nylanda was relentless in the 85th minute of the game. When Ivan Horsing came up free with the goalie in the 96th minute, the Vaabensted fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Ivan Horsing couldn't finish the play. Grønbæk were delighted with the way they had won the match. They had held their defensive line well and made the most of their chances, to claim a victory over Vaabensted's much stronger midfield.
