In the 14th minute Thorvald Masang shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dirch Glerum saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Patrick Vyk in the 17th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Dirch Glerum prevented the ball from getting in the gole. After a rather tough play, Hønning's Betinho Beton got a free kick in the 25th minute. In the 28th minute, Torkild Skovhave hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After a defensive mix-up in FC Hyklerne's zone, John-Arne Riise stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Hasan Bræmdal came out of the goal and John-Arne Riise tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After a rather tough play, Hønning's Jeppe Andersen got a free kick in the 34th minute. After 36 played minutes Hønning got a freekick which was hit by Carlos Eduardo Varela. Ferdinand Romholt struck a weak shot in the 40th minute. Hasan Bræmdal didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Hønning. 46 minutes into the match, FC Hyklerne's goal looked a bit too open when John-Arne Riise came free, but Hasan Bræmdal reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When Ferdinand Romholt fell near the penalty area in the 46th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Hønning's protests and gave Ferdinand Romholt a yellow card for diving instead. Af the end of the first half the score was 1-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and John-Arne Riise made a kick off. Hasan Bræmdal made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-0. When Ferdinand Romholt came up free with the goalie in the 78th minute, the Hønning fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Ferdinand Romholt couldn't finish the play. A collision led to FC Hyklerne getting a freekick after 79 minutes play. Mathias Metzon hit a great ball. In the 80th minute, Laurids Hvenekilde got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After having played for 82 minutes, John-Arne Riise managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Hønning's supporters crossed their fingers, but John-Arne Riise was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. If Betinho Beton had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 87th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 96 minutes into the match, Hønning's goalkeeper Dirch Glerum had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Robin Nørrehvedde. FC Hyklerne's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
