Spectators: 7390 (Terracing: 5544, Seating: 1699, VIP seats: 147) Oerath FSV's Eugen Kockel started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Manfred Schmitt-Illert fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 11th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Dietmar Pleve having to interfere. L.V. ROXEL's Dietmar Pleve played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Eugen Kockel in the 13th minute of play. A collision led to L.V. ROXEL getting a freekick after 15 minutes play. Hannes Rubeck hit a great ball. When Horst Großmann came up free with the goalie in the 18th minute, the L.V. ROXEL fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Horst Großmann couldn't finish the play. It seemed to be an obvious goal in the 21st minute, but Mario Schöpfer got his fingers on the ball or the save, leaving Oerath FSV hanging dry this time. In the 22nd match minute, Oerath FSV was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Theodor Gemein to maneuver through the defense. In the 29th minute, Eugen Kockel left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Oerath FSV fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. Mario Schöpfer showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Horst Großmann, who was totally free with the ball in the 40th minute. In the 43rd minute, Arne Pütz got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-1 lead.

L.V. ROXEL's Dietmar Pleve proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 56th minute of the match, managed to save L.V. ROXEL from getting a goal against them. After some fancy dribbling in the 62nd minute, Manfred Schmitt-Illert managed to get in a good position for a shot. Oerath FSV's supporters rose to their feet, but Manfred Schmitt-Illert was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Dietmar Pleve breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Dietmar Pleve stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Eugen Kockel's shot from short distance in the 66th minute. In the 72nd minute Eugen Kockel shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dietmar Pleve saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Horst Großmann received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 77th minute. Mario Schöpfer tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 80 minutes into the match, L.V. ROXEL's goal looked a bit too open when Eugen Kockel came free, but Dietmar Pleve reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 82 played minutes Bernhard Westmann rounded L.V. ROXEL's defense and shot a beautiful shot into goal via left pole - 0-2. Eugen Kockel received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 90th minute. Dietmar Pleve tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Dietmar Pleve showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Eugen Kockel in the 93rd minute of the match. Manfred Schmitt-Illert might have been able to make a better finish in the 95th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Dietmar Pleve. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Manfred Schmitt-Illert ran back to his position shaking his head. Oerath FSV played a much better game than L.V. ROXEL and deserved their victory. The L.V. ROXEL players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
