Leo Grünewald didn't succeed to prevent the ball from going into goal when Volkstedt FSV's Tammo Bachmayr shot an unexpected shot in the crossbar's under edge and made 2-0 in the ordered_time% minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 3-0.

If Timo Himmelreich had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 53rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Georg Pöttgen sent away a hard shot on goal in the 56th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Timo Himmelreich fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 57th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Milenko Heyse having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jonas Otters in the 61st minute of play forced FC Schalke GE 04's goalkeeper Leo Grünewald to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After a defensive mix-up in Volkstedt FSV's zone, Timo Himmelreich stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Milenko Heyse came out of the goal and Timo Himmelreich tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Georg Pöttgen kicked well hit freekick during the 65th minute of the match. 66 minutes into the match, FC Schalke GE 04's goal looked a bit too open when Jonas Otters came free, but Leo Grünewald reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When Volkstedt FSV's Tammo Bachmayr, in the 68th minute, received a pass right in front of the net, it looked like a certain goal, but his shot went outside. A wasted opportunity for Volkstedt FSV.
