After a defensive mix-up in Fc Schalke 04's zone, Aloys Igler stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Günther Raue came out of the goal and Aloys Igler tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 56 minutes into the match, Fc Schalke 04's goal looked a bit too open when Aloys Igler came free, but Günther Raue reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 57 played minutes Fc Schalke 04 got a freekick which was hit by Oswald Eckardt. After some fancy dribbling in the 61st minute, Aloys Igler managed to get in a good position for a shot. Mönchengladbach's supporters rose to their feet, but Aloys Igler was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post.
