Patrick Oliver Schütt made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jari Schragmann in the 10th minute of play. Günther Raue showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Gordon Kratz, who was totally free with the ball in the 14th minute. Martin Radermacher took the ball and in the 16 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Patrick Oliver Schütt. Patrick Oliver Schütt dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-1. Baldur Burtscher sent away a hard shot on goal in the 19th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 20 minutes into the game, Fc Schalke 04's Baldur Burtscher nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Patrick Oliver Schütt made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-2. Günther Raue made a fantastic save in the 25th minute, when Gordon Kratz sent off a good shot on target. 27 minutes into the game, Baldur Burtscher was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Fc Schalke 04's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Hertha BSC the free kick. The supporters of Hertha BSC booed when Fc Schalke 04 was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 27 match minutes in a wonderful position. Baldur Burtscher didn't get a good kick on the ball. Patrick Oliver Schütt made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Martin Radermacher in the 30th minute of play. Berti Emmerich hit a great freekick 32 minutes into the match. Xaver Eichwald fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 35th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Günther Raue having to interfere. 0-3 became the score in the 37th minute when Baldur Burtscher elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. When Fc Schalke 04's Martin Radermacher in the 40th minute got a chance for a shot 40th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Hertha BSC's goalie prevented a goal.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Baldur Burtscher to make the kick off. Patrick Oliver Schütt was out of position in the 51 minute of play, and Baldur Burtscher capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Baldur Burtscher really showed his touch with that goal: 0-4. Fabian Clopp received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 55th minute. Günther Raue tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 59th minute, Baldur Burtscher ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Patrick Oliver Schütt was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-5. 62 minutes into the match, Hertha BSC's goal looked a bit too open when Baldur Burtscher came free, but Patrick Oliver Schütt reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Thanks to some nice moves Martin Radermacher could shoot a difficult shot in the 66th minute, which Patrick Oliver Schütt however easily saved by the left post. 69 minutes into the game, Baldur Burtscher recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Patrick Oliver Schütt. Baldur Burtscher showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-6. In the 73rd minute Gordon Kratz shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Günther Raue saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When Jari Schragmann fell near the penalty area in the 76th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Fc Schalke 04's protests and gave Jari Schragmann a yellow card for diving instead. In the 76th minute, Jari Schragmann hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. If Martin Radermacher had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 78th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Xaver Eichwald recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 80th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 85th minute, Xaver Eichwald got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. An unexpected shot in the 89th minute by Martin Radermacher got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. When Berti Emmerich was, once again, overly rough in his play he received his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. 91 minutes had been played. After 90 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Fc Schalke 04! Fabian Clopp received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 96th minute.
