Ekkehard Uphoff's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Joseph Petz read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 4th minute of play. 5 minutes into the match, Ekkehard Uphoff had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Joseph Petz. 1860 München's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Ekkehard Uphoff was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. In the 10th minute Emmo Probst shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Horst Borger saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Joseph Petz showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Walter Klukas in the 16th minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ekkehard Uphoff in the 17th minute of play forced 1860 München's goalkeeper Joseph Petz to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Ekkehard Uphoff had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 21st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Eberhard Jensch's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Horst Borger firmly grabbed it by the left post. An unexpectedly hard shot by Emmo Probst in the 25th minute of play forced Markgrafenheide's goalkeeper Horst Borger to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 26th minute, Tibor Erl hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Joseph Petz made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ekkehard Uphoff in the 26th minute of play. Ekkehard Uphoff received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 34th minute. Joseph Petz tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Markgrafenheide's Ekkehard Uphoff got a good chance for a goal in the 40th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Walter Klukas received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 42nd minute. Joseph Petz tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Markgrafenheide's Horst Borger played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Emmo Probst in the 46th minute of play. Emmo Probst fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 47th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Horst Borger having to interfere.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Walter Klukas to make the kick off. In the 55th match minute, Markgrafenheide was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Marius Forbrig to maneuver through the defense. In the 56th minute, Balduin Oberle sent off a long shot on goal, but the shot was nowhere near the goal and Markgrafenheide's Horst Borger didn't even have to move. Ekkehard Uphoff fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 62nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Joseph Petz having to interfere. Joseph Petz showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Walter Klukas in the 64th minute of the match. Walter Klukas struck a weak shot in the 69th minute. Joseph Petz didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Markgrafenheide. An unexpectedly hard shot by Eberhard Jensch in the 78th minute of play forced Markgrafenheide's goalkeeper Horst Borger to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Emmo Probst fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 81st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Horst Borger having to interfere. In the 84thth minute of the game Walter Klukas who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but 1860 München's Joseph Petz was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Joseph Petz made an important save on a dangerous shot by Max Wünsche in the 91st minute. A collision led to Markgrafenheide getting a freekick after 95 minutes play. Max Wünsche hit a great ball.
