Ulli Matthiessen fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 3rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Engelbert Heintges having to interfere. Geniel FSV's Engelbert Heintges played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Pinkas Dahl in the 10th minute of play. After a rather tough play, Geniel FSV's Erhard Spörl got a free kick in the 12th minute. Engelbert Heintges took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Harald Bluhm, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 20 minutes into the match, Geniel FSV's goal looked a bit too open when Harald Bluhm came free, but Engelbert Heintges reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After a rather tough play, Geniel FSV's Ulrich Daniel got a free kick in the 31st minute. 36 minutes into the game, Jochen Krauth was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Geniel FSV's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Deckau the free kick. Jochen Krauth kicked well hit freekick during the 36th minute of the match. Jochen Krauth received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 42nd minute. Günther Domes tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 45 minutes into the game, Dietrich Hemker was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Geniel FSV's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Deckau the free kick. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The wind increased when Pinkas Dahl made the kick off in the second half. 52 minutes into the match, Geniel FSV's goal looked a bit too open when Pinkas Dahl came free, but Engelbert Heintges reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Günther Domes showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Christian Chille, who was totally free with the ball in the 56th minute. Christian Chille kicked well hit freekick during the 61st minute of the match. Geniel FSV's Dietrich Hemker got his second yellow card of the match in the 64th minute. The referee ordered Dietrich Hemker off the ground. After a rather tough play, Geniel FSV's Dietrich Hemker got a free kick in the 65th minute. Geniel FSV's supporters crossed their fingers, but Christian Chille was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 72 minutes into the match, Deckau's goal looked a bit too open when Jochen Krauth came free, but Günther Domes reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in Deckau's zone, Christian Chille stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Günther Domes came out of the goal and Christian Chille tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 79th match minute, Geniel FSV was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Gerhart Schiermoch to maneuver through the defense. With a little luck, Geniel FSV's Engelbert Heintges got control of the ball when Harald Bluhm tried to sneak it across the goal line. Jo Stegemann sent away a hard shot on goal in the 87th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Engelbert Heintges showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Pinkas Dahl, who was totally free with the ball in the 90th minute. Pinkas Dahl fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 92nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Engelbert Heintges having to interfere. Engelbert Heintges was a little too slow when Pinkas Dahl got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 95th minute. The score was now 0-1. When the referee blew the final whistle jeers and boos were heard from the home team's supporters. They were angered to see Geniel FSV lose a match they had controlled from the kick-off.
