Olaf Dienelt made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Sönke Hönicke in the 3rd minute of play. If Armin Hagen had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 4th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Dietbald Pattmann might have been able to make a better finish in the 6th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Olaf Dienelt. An unexpectedly hard shot by Sönke Hönicke in the 8th minute of play forced Kleindraxdorf's goalkeeper Olaf Dienelt to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Sonsfeld FSV's Armin Hagen got a good chance for a goal in the 10th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. A collision led to Kleindraxdorf getting a freekick after 13 minutes play. Erdal Schiffmann hit a great ball. After 14 minutes, Armin Hagen made it 0-1 with a short kick to the right side. Kleindraxdorf's Olaf Dienelt tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. When Jakob Gingold came up free with the goalie in the 18th minute, the Kleindraxdorf fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Jakob Gingold couldn't finish the play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Armin Hagen in the 24th minute of play forced Kleindraxdorf's goalkeeper Olaf Dienelt to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 26 minutes into the match, Kleindraxdorf's goal looked a bit too open when Armin Hagen came free, but Olaf Dienelt reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 28 minutes into the match, Armin Hagen had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Olaf Dienelt. Kleindraxdorf's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Armin Hagen was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-2. 31 minutes into the match, Kleindraxdorf's Jakob Gingold sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Karl-Heinz Stüwe narrowly saved just below the crossbar. When Jakob Gingold came up free with the goalie in the 33rd minute, the Kleindraxdorf fans jumped to their feet. Sönke Hönicke blasted a shot towards the goal in the 34th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Olaf Dienelt having to make a save. Olaf Dienelt showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Sönke Hönicke, who was totally free with the ball in the 38th minute. Armin Hagen fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 42nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Olaf Dienelt having to interfere. After 46 played minutes Kleindraxdorf got a freekick which was hit by Wolfram Fassbender. Hagen Diekelmann, 47 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

In the 58th minute Jakob Gingold shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Karl-Heinz Stüwe saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 60 played minutes Sonsfeld FSV got a freekick which was hit by Romano Schnehage. Sönke Hönicke received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 63rd minute. Olaf Dienelt tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The audience thought a goal was coming when Sönke Hönicke got free with Olaf Dienelt in the 68th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. A collision led to Kleindraxdorf getting a freekick after 78 minutes play. Keven Klemm hit a great ball. Armin Hagen recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 80th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. An unexpected shot in the 82nd minute by Sönke Hönicke got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. Sonsfeld FSV's Sönke Hönicke came free and shot a quick shot against goal 87 minutes in the game, fortunately Olaf Dienelt had problems saving as it came toward the left post. Armin Hagen sent away a hard shot on goal in the 89th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance.
