Helge Jäger's late challenge caught a FC Pilger's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Helge Jäger helped the player get up and apologised. Helge Jäger kicked well hit freekick during the 3rd minute of the match. The crowd rose to their feet as Udo Schneidereit kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Jürgen Schaaf. That made the score 1-0 in the 7 minute of play. The supporters of FC Pilger booed when Volkesfeld FSV was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 10 match minutes in a wonderful position. Helge Jäger didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 12th match minute, Volkesfeld FSV was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Heiner Granitza to maneuver through the defense. Karl-Georg Weidemeier hit a great freekick 18 minutes into the match. In the 19th minute Johannes Stadler shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ernst Breitkopf saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 31st minute, Udo Schneidereit made a precise shot to the right of Jürgen Schaaf. FC Pilger's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 3-0. In the 34th minute, Alex Blumenthal hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After a rather tough play, FC Pilger's Georg Podella got a free kick in the 36th minute. A collision led to FC Pilger getting a freekick after 40 minutes play. Tobias Meincke hit a great ball. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 3-0.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Udo Schneidereit to strike the kick off in the second half. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Udo Schneidereit in the 55th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Jürgen Schaaf saved FC Pilger from getting behind. In the 56th minute the ball was on its way in behind FC Pilger's goalkeeper Jürgen Schaaf, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. In the 58th minute of the match Volkesfeld FSV got a corner. FC Pilger's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Karl Heim ran over to the corner to take the kick. Jürgen Schaaf stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Udo Schneidereit's shot from short distance in the 61st minute. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Udo Schneidereit in the 63rd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Jürgen Schaaf saved FC Pilger from getting behind. Jürgen Schaaf took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from René Christen, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Heiner Granitza received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 68th minute. Jürgen Schaaf tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Heiner Granitza sent away a hard shot on goal in the 73rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. An unexpectedly hard shot by Udo Schneidereit in the 74th minute of play forced FC Pilger's goalkeeper Jürgen Schaaf to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Balduin Hoeft charged in rather forcefully in the 77th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Balduin Hoeft the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. René Christen sent away a hard shot on goal in the 86th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 95 minutes, René Christen mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Volkesfeld FSV and the FC Pilger players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of FC Pilger booed when Volkesfeld FSV was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 95 match minutes in a wonderful position. René Christen didn't get a good kick on the ball. Volkesfeld FSV walked away with a well-earned victory that was much celebrated by the crowd.
