Uwe Holthuis could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 6th minute of the match, but Franz Indenklef made a huge save. SV Duisburg's Franz Indenklef played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jorge Marques in the 7th minute of play. Franz Indenklef made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Uwe Holthuis in the 10th minute of play. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Jorge Marques in the 12th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Franz Indenklef prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Rigobert Haug kicked well hit freekick during the 14th minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Christoph Hasse in the 16th minute of play forced Sporting Cologne 2015's goalkeeper Raimund Eisenhauer to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 18th minute, Steen Butzendorf hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After a good free kick, Steen Butzendorf got an opportunity to smash the ball into the goal, but unfortunately, the ball went just outside the goal, which resulted in a goal kick for Sporting Cologne 2015. After 21 minutes of play, Sporting Cologne 2015's İslam Ronaldo made it 1-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. The SV Duisburg fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Franz Indenklef should have stopped the shot. 41 minutes into the game, Ahmed Pradt was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. SV Duisburg's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Sporting Cologne 2015 the free kick. 40 minutes into the game, one of SV Duisburg:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. İslam Ronaldo walked up to take care of the penalty kick. He was aiming for the top corner, but the ball went just outside the post. Franz Indenklef took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Jorge Marques, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 45th minute Joakim Kangasniemi shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Franz Indenklef saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 3-0.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Jorge Marques to strike the kick off in the second half. After some careless play in the SV Duisburg defense, Ryleigh Rogers kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Franz Indenklef. The SV Duisburg fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Franz Indenklef should have stopped the shot. Christoph Hasse recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 61st minute. Christoph Hasse fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 76th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Raimund Eisenhauer having to interfere. 78 minutes into the match, Jorge Marques had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Franz Indenklef. SV Duisburg's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Jorge Marques was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 6-0. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Torsten Kaiser during the 81st minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Franz Indenklef didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Khalid Stehmer went, in the 89th minute, to the upper right corner, 7-0 was the resulting score. The audience thought a goal was coming when Christoph Hasse got free with Raimund Eisenhauer in the 94th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. During the 95th minute of the match Torsten Kaiser completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Torsten Kaiser a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. A collision led to Sporting Cologne 2015 getting a freekick after 96 minutes play. Torsten Kaiser hit a great ball. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Sporting Cologne 2015 fans cheered their team off the field, for while SV Duisburg had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
