In the last second Thomas Bongartz throw himself and got hold of the ball when Reno Kündgen in the 8thth minute from his position got away a shot towards the right post. The audience thought a goal was coming when Kilian Stark got free with Thomas Bongartz in the 29th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 30 minutes into the match, Buna Schkopau's goal looked a bit too open when Alec Köhncke came free, but Sascha Halke reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The audience thought a goal was coming when Marc Piter got free with Thomas Bongartz in the 34th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Reno Kündgen recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 35th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Thomas Bongartz showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Reno Kündgen in the 38th minute of the match. Marc Piter received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 39th minute. Thomas Bongartz tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 44th minute Reno Kündgen shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Thomas Bongartz saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 46th minute, Marc Piter got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 48 minutes into the game, Reno Kündgen lined in a short shot 2-0 behind a frustrated Thomas Bongartz. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-0.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Reno Kündgen made a kick off. EC Castrop CCK 96's Jossip Nievelstein got a good chance for a goal in the 56th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Sascha Halke showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Alec Köhncke, who was totally free with the ball in the 57th minute. Reno Kündgen sent away a hard shot on goal in the 65th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. After a rather tough play, Buna Schkopau's Timo Ahrend got a free kick in the 69th minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 77th minute, Reno Kündgen managed to get in a good position for a shot. Buna Schkopau's supporters rose to their feet, but Reno Kündgen was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Thomas Bongartz breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After having played for 80 minutes, Reno Kündgen managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Buna Schkopau's supporters crossed their fingers, but Reno Kündgen was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 81st minute, Jean Chittka hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After 83 minutes of play, Buna Schkopau's Reno Kündgen made it 3-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Thomas Bongartz was left in no man's land by his defense there! Kilian Stark sent away a hard shot on goal in the 86th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Thomas Bongartz stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Reno Kündgen's shot from short distance in the 93rd minute. After a defensive mix-up in EC Castrop CCK 96's zone, Reno Kündgen stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Thomas Bongartz came out of the goal and Reno Kündgen tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Marc Piter fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 98th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Thomas Bongartz having to interfere.
