Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) The field was rather wet after several days of rain when Jan Lachmann took the kick off in the first half of the match. 3 minutes into the match, MSV Duisburg's Marvin Pattberg sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that José Assmann narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Konrad Themann charged in rather forcefully in the 4th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Konrad Themann the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. A collision led to Schmittlotheim getting a freekick after 4 minutes play. Konrad Themann hit a great ball. The supporters of MSV Duisburg booed when Schmittlotheim was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 6 match minutes in a wonderful position. Gert Gross didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 13th minute, Fritz Blassel hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. MSV Duisburg's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Harald Sacher in the 16th minute. Chris Kimpeler stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Fynn Hielscher's shot from short distance in the 18th minute. When MSV Duisburg's Eggert Marissen in the 25th minute got a chance for a shot 25th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Schmittlotheim's goalie prevented a goal. Johann Krölls kicked well hit freekick during the 28th minute of the match. Ferdinand Wiechmann, 29 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. In the 32nd minute, Marvin Pattberg ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. José Assmann was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-1. Schmittlotheim's José Assmann proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 35th minute of the match, managed to save Schmittlotheim from getting a goal against them. In the 36th minute, one of Schmittlotheim:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Schmittlotheim. José Assmann went to the wrong direction when Harald Sacher was taking care of the penalty kick which however missed the goal. Marvin Pattberg recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 44th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 46th minute, Eggert Marissen got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal.

After 56 played minutes Schmittlotheim got a freekick which was hit by Jan Lachmann. Helmar Hannemann struck a weak shot in the 60th minute. Chris Kimpeler didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Schmittlotheim. 64 minutes into the match, MSV Duisburg's goal looked a bit too open when Fynn Hielscher came free, but Chris Kimpeler reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Chris Kimpeler made a fantastic save in the 65th minute, when Helmar Hannemann sent off a good shot on target. In a very dangerous position, a player in Schmittlotheim fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 67th minute. Penalty! In the 68th minute there was a penalty for MSV Duisburg. Harald Sacher stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving José Assmann. 3-1. Christian Flaht kicked well hit freekick during the 70th minute of the match. After 72 played minutes, Schmittlotheim's Heimito Zuydtwyck shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Chris Kimpeler came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Schmittlotheim reached it. After 74 played minutes, MSV Duisburg's Fjodor Rottmair shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper José Assmann came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in MSV Duisburg reached it. Schmittlotheim's José Assmann played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Marvin Pattberg in the 76th minute of play. In the 77th match minute, Schmittlotheim was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Kurt Heß to maneuver through the defense. Chris Kimpeler made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jan Lachmann in the 84th minute of play. Chris Kimpeler took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Jan Lachmann, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. A well placed Jan Lachmann short distance shot in the 89th minute ended with a hard ball which without a chance for the goalkeeper went staright up into the goalkeepers left cross. For all the effort they put into the match, the Schmittlotheim players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for MSV Duisburg.
