The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Etienne Böwering could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 6th minute of the match, but Chris Lutz made a huge save. Kirsten Bleile kicked well hit freekick during the 8th minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Etienne Böwering in the 9th minute of play forced FC Wolle Brunnen's goalkeeper Chris Lutz to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Chris Lutz showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Etienne Böwering in the 16th minute of the match. After 19 played minutes FC Wolle Brunnen got a freekick which was hit by Kirsten Bleile. Jochen Mrozik recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 21st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Ralf Mehring hit a great freekick 28 minutes into the match. After a rather tough play, FC Wolle Brunnen's Ralf Mehring got a free kick in the 30th minute. Jochen Mrozik spun around in front of the goal 31 minutes in the game, and got away a shot that, to his disappointment, went to the left of FC Wolle Brunnen's goal. Chris Lutz showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Etienne Böwering, who was totally free with the ball in the 40th minute. After 45th play minutes Etienne Böwering shot 1-0, a short shot which went by Chris Lutz and just under the crossbar into goal. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Udo Zabel made a kick off. In the 54th minute, FC Wolle Brunnen's Joerg-Uwe Mühlhäuser ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Philipp Kronimus. Philipp Kronimus yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-1. Chris Lutz took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Jochen Mrozik, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After a rather tough play, FRANKFURT's Peer Häfner got a free kick in the 63rd minute. FC Wolle Brunnen's Chris Lutz played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jochen Mrozik in the 70th minute of play. Dick Borner recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 73rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The audience thought a goal was coming when Udo Zabel got free with Philipp Kronimus in the 81st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 81 minutes into the match, FRANKFURT's goalkeeper Philipp Kronimus had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Udo Zabel. Etienne Böwering might have been able to make a better finish in the 84th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Chris Lutz. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Etienne Böwering ran back to his position shaking his head. 91 minutes into the match, Dick Borner had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Chris Lutz. FC Wolle Brunnen's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Dick Borner was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 3-1.
