Feodor Thelen stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Tjard Walz. 0-1. The supporters of Sahna booed when FC.Schalke 04 was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 22 match minutes in a wonderful position. Mirco Dicke didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 23rd minute, Elmar Limburg got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. If Oswald Gaede had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 27th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Tjard Walz made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ali Petters in the 31st minute of play. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Ali Petters in the 34th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Tjard Walz saved FC.Schalke 04 from getting behind. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Armin Munderloh during the 35th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Armin Munderloh kicked well hit freekick during the 35th minute of the match. If Oswald Gaede had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 38th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The wind increased when Oswald Gaede made the kick off in the second half.
