Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) The field was rather wet after several days of rain when Wieland Gniech took the kick off in the first half of the match. In the 2nd match minute, Herten FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Berthold Feller to maneuver through the defense. Siegfried Meist's shot from long distance was a real pearl which went to the right and just passed Florin Eisold - 1-0 was put on the score board in the 3rd minute. Kassian Knapp sent away a hard shot on goal in the 7th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 9 minutes into the game, Kassian Knapp cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-0. Florin Eisold was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. After some careless play in the Herten FC defense, Andre Görtzen kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Florin Eisold. The Herten FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Florin Eisold should have stopped the shot. In the 17th match minute, Herten FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Berthold Feller to maneuver through the defense. Berthold Feller sent away a hard shot on goal in the 21st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. An unexpectedly hard shot by Andre Görtzen in the 27th minute of play forced Herten FC's goalkeeper Florin Eisold to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Torben Metz's late challenge caught a Herten FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Torben Metz helped the player get up and apologised. In the 29th minute, Torben Metz hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After having played for 35 minutes, Wieland Gniech managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Herten FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Wieland Gniech was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After 42 played minutes Marpingen FC got a freekick which was hit by Peter-Stefan Seelenbinder. Marian Gerste hit a great freekick 44 minutes into the match. Ted Höfgen, 45 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 3-0.

The wind increased when Andre Görtzen made the kick off in the second half. An unexpectedly hard shot by Kassian Knapp in the 52nd minute of play forced Herten FC's goalkeeper Florin Eisold to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Marpingen FC's Kassian Knapp got a good chance for a goal in the 53rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Herten FC's Florin Eisold played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Kassian Knapp in the 62nd minute of play. Kassian Knapp fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 72nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Florin Eisold having to interfere. A collision led to Herten FC getting a freekick after 73 minutes play. Kees Rosentritt hit a great ball. Torben Metz hit a great freekick 82 minutes into the match. Florin Eisold showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Kassian Knapp in the 85th minute of the match. The Marpingen FC support was delighted with a win in a match that could easily have ended differently.
