With an all-out effort, TuS Grevenbroich's Marvin Lefering threw himself towards the right post 18 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Ned Fehrmann, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. 23 minutes into the game, Ned Fehrmann recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Marvin Lefering. Ned Fehrmann showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-0. After having played for 31 minutes, Igor Gelacio managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Bosewitz's supporters crossed their fingers, but Igor Gelacio was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The audience thought a goal was coming when Mark Brocker got free with Marvin Lefering in the 41st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Marvin Lefering showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jeff Orthaus, who was totally free with the ball in the 47th minute. Af the end of the first half the score was 1-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.
