When Ted Höfgen came up free with the goalie in the 5th minute, the Herten FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Ted Höfgen couldn't finish the play. In the 8th minute, Kim Kimpeler hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. When the match clock showed 11 minutes, the score became 0-1 when Mauro Dziub sped through Herten FC's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Florin Eisold. In the 14th minute, Groß Kiphausen's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Ted Höfgen fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. In the 18th minute, Norbert Goldmann hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Herten FC were furious when Michael Buchmann was red carded, 21 minutes into the game, but the referee dismissed their protests. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 21st minute of the game. One of Herten FC:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Groß Kiphausen:s goal. Herten FC:s Florin Eisold showed great skill when he stopped Mauro Dziub:s penalty. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Robert Kläser during the 24th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After 24 played minutes Herten FC got a freekick which was hit by Robert Kläser. Egon Reininger's late challenge caught a Groß Kiphausen's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Egon Reininger helped the player get up and apologised. After 29 played minutes Groß Kiphausen got a freekick which was hit by Johan Andrade. Johan Andrade fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 43rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Florin Eisold having to interfere. In the 46thth minute of the game Mauro Dziub who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Herten FC's Florin Eisold was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Mauro Dziub to strike the kick off in the second half. Berthold Feller fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 58th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Christopher Hähle having to interfere. If Mauro Dziub had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 87th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a rather tough play, Herten FC's Kees Rosentritt got a free kick in the 95th minute. Mauro Dziub recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 96th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. When the final whistle went the supporters of Groß Kiphausen were delighted that their team had defeated the much more dominant Herten FC side.
