The supporters of Herten FC booed when 1.SSV Heimelf was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 15 match minutes in a wonderful position. Uwe-Jens Westermann didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 21stth minute of the game Wieland Gniech who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but 1.SSV Heimelf's Tommaso Hörnes was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Tommaso Hörnes took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Wieland Gniech, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When 1.SSV Heimelf's Benno Rehm in the 28th minute got a chance for a shot 28th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. Michael Buchmann kicked well hit freekick during the 35th minute of the match. In the 36th minute, Matthias W Rauche got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 37th minute, Wieland Gniech hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. With a little luck, Herten FC's Florin Eisold got control of the ball when Björn Riester tried to sneak it across the goal line. Kim Kimpeler charged in rather forcefully in the 43rd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Kim Kimpeler the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Kim Kimpeler hit a great freekick 43 minutes into the match.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Björn Riester to strike the kick off in the second half. 54 minutes into the game, Theodor Blask threw the ball into play from the sideline. Herten FC's Berthold Feller quickly snatched the ball and retained possesion. 56 minutes into the game, Berthold Feller was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Herten FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave 1.SSV Heimelf the free kick. After 56 played minutes Herten FC got a freekick which was hit by Berthold Feller. An unexpectedly hard shot by Benno Rehm in the 58th minute of play forced Herten FC's goalkeeper Florin Eisold to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 60th minute Benno Rehm shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Florin Eisold saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Florin Eisold showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Matthias W Rauche in the 63rd minute of the match. A collision led to Herten FC getting a freekick after 64 minutes play. Kees Rosentritt hit a great ball. Björn Riester fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 68th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Florin Eisold having to interfere. Florin Eisold took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Björn Riester, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After having played for 72 minutes, Ted Höfgen managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Herten FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Ted Höfgen was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Ted Höfgen fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 78th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Tommaso Hörnes having to interfere. In the 84th minute Benno Rehm shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Florin Eisold saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 91 minutes, Björn Riester mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the 1.SSV Heimelf and the Herten FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. A collision led to 1.SSV Heimelf getting a freekick after 91 minutes play. Björn Riester hit a great ball. 1.SSV Heimelf made a substitution. Helmut Schindler replaced Matthias W Rauche. After 92 played minutes 1.SSV Heimelf got a freekick which was hit by Björn Riester. Florin Eisold showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Björn Riester in the 94th minute of the match. Herten FC were unable to convert their possession into goals, allowing 1.SSV Heimelf to leave the ground with a draw.
