Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-1 lead.

The crowd rose to their feet as 1.FC Union Berlin's Andreas von Gartzen slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Geert Tippelt. That made the score 0-4 after 73 minutes of play. In the 77th minute the ball was on its way in behind 1.FC Union Berlin's goalkeeper Siegmund Splett, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. In the 78th minute, Andreas Papies hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Oswald Austin fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 79th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Siegmund Splett having to interfere. GALATASARAY 67's Geert Tippelt proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 83rd minute of the match, managed to save GALATASARAY 67 from getting a goal against them. The attack was good, but when Götz Pengel in the 86th minute was about to shoot he didn't kick quite good enough and the ball went high over goal. The GALATASARAY 67 fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. 1.FC Union Berlin were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
