Uwe Thömmes came out of the goal in the 16th minute to try and stop a shot by Borussia Mönchengladbach's Heiko Hennicke. But to his dismay, Heiko Hennicke quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-2. Roman Babel in the 20thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Philipp Wendland, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. After 21 played minutes Roman Babel could catch the ball where he stood relatively free a bit outside the goal and without hesitation he completed 1-2 into the left cross. Roman Babel who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 30thth minute tested the skills of Philipp Wendland when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Uwe Thömmes took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Domian Abd el Farrag, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The audience was convinced that Roman Babel's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Philipp Wendland was relentless in the 34th minute of the game. Uwe Thömmes came out of the goal in the 36th minute to try and stop a shot by Borussia Mönchengladbach's Carlo Mantovan. But to his dismay, Carlo Mantovan quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-3. Uwe Thömmes showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Gerd Trumpf in the 39th minute of the match. Uwe Thömmes showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Heiko Hennicke, who was totally free with the ball in the 41st minute. 44 minutes into the match, Borussia Mönchengladbach's goalkeeper Philipp Wendland had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Roman Babel. When Olaf Voß came up free with the goalie in the 44th minute, the TuS Schönenberg fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Olaf Voß couldn't finish the play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Carlo Mantovan in the 48th minute of play forced TuS Schönenberg's goalkeeper Uwe Thömmes to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The TuS Schönenberg players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Borussia Mönchengladbach were winning 1-3.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Heiko Hennicke to strike the kick off in the second half. Uwe Thömmes made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Heiko Hennicke in the 52nd minute of play. After 53 played minutes TuS Schönenberg got a freekick which was hit by Olaf Voß. In the 55th minute, Borussia Mönchengladbach's Heiko Hennicke dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-4. Philipp Wendland showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Roman Babel, who was totally free with the ball in the 86th minute. Uwe Thömmes showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Domian Abd el Farrag in the 88th minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Kai Schramm in the 89th minute of play forced TuS Schönenberg's goalkeeper Uwe Thömmes to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Uwe Thömmes took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Heiko Hennicke, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. Borussia Mönchengladbach had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
