Marc Amsteinler fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 43rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Patrik Sudhoff having to interfere. Robert Matthiessen showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Manfred Kirschner in the 45th minute of the match. Bertram Schwarz's late challenge caught a FC Bernau's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Bertram Schwarz helped the player get up and apologised. FC Bernau's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Patrik Sudhoff prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Pascal Holtei fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 81st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Patrik Sudhoff having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Uwe Scherpp in the 83rd minute of play forced HAMBURGER SPORT VEREIN's goalkeeper Patrik Sudhoff to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Uwe Scherpp had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 88th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Through an outstanding action, after 93 minutes, Robert Matthiessen successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. 97 minutes into the match, Manfred Kirschner notched a goal, 1-6, to the right of FC Bernau's Robert Matthiessen. Robert Matthiessen was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. HAMBURGER SPORT VEREIN had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
