Otto Leonhardt struck a weak shot in the 6th minute. Kim Schrader didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for SG Saarmund. 13 minutes into the match, Tsuneo Hampen notched a goal, 1-0, to the right of Groß Thun's Kim Schrader. Kim Schrader was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. The crowd rose to their feet as Constantin Hein kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Kim Schrader. That made the score 2-0 in the 17 minute of play. Groß Thun's Kim Schrader played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Otto Leonhardt in the 20th minute of play. A hard shot 24 in the game by Tsuneo Hampen from a close distance when the talented Kim Schrader managed to make a qualified save. Groß Thun's players were relieved. SG Saarmund's Tsuneo Hampen got a good chance for a goal in the 25th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. An unexpectedly hard shot by Claus Frey in the 29th minute of play forced SG Saarmund's goalkeeper Okke Kantel to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 32 minutes into the game, SG Saarmund's Tsuneo Hampen nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Kim Schrader made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 3-0. In the 35th match minute, SG Saarmund was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Michael Tiede to maneuver through the defense. 36 minutes into the game, Groß Thun's Arnold Burdach nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Okke Kantel made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 3-1. In the 41st match minute, SG Saarmund was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jens Hofelich to maneuver through the defense. After 43 minutes of play, Groß Thun's Claus Frey made it 3-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Okke Kantel was left in no man's land by his defense there! Okke Kantel took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Arnold Burdach, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 3-2 at half-time.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Claus Frey made a kick off. With a little luck, SG Saarmund's Okke Kantel got control of the ball when Arnold Burdach tried to sneak it across the goal line. If Arnold Burdach had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 54th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. In the 56thth minute of the game Claus Frey who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but SG Saarmund's Okke Kantel was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. When Groß Thun's Claus Frey in the 58th minute got a chance for a shot 58th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye SG Saarmund's goalie prevented a goal. Okke Kantel showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Claus Frey in the 62nd minute of the match. 70 minutes into the game, Arnold Burdach cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 3-3. Okke Kantel was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Arnold Burdach could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 74th minute of the match, but Okke Kantel made a huge save. Dieter Quint kicked well hit freekick during the 80th minute of the match. SG Saarmund's Okke Kantel played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Claus Frey in the 84th minute of play. Claus Frey sent away a hard shot on goal in the 86th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Claus Frey fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 88th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Okke Kantel having to interfere. After having played for 95 minutes, Arnold Burdach managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Groß Thun's supporters crossed their fingers, but Arnold Burdach was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The final whistle blew with the score still tied, and both teams left the pitch thinking about the missed chances that could have given their team the win.
