Hilbert Sing didn't get a good kick on the ball. 4 minutes into the match, Charlie Mücke had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Hartwin Hammer. VfB Preussen Greppin 1911's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Charlie Mücke was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. Hartwin Hammer showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Charlie Mücke in the 7th minute of the match. In the 11th minute of the match Johann Schnell sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Hartwin Hammer skillfully saved the ball. Charlie Mücke scored 0-2 in the 15th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Hartwin Hammer, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. 18 minutes into the match, Lokomotive Leipzig's goalkeeper Till Poll had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Hartfrid Borchert. When Lokomotive Leipzig's Charlie Mücke in the 20th minute got a chance for a shot 20th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye VfB Preussen Greppin 1911's goalie prevented a goal. Klemens Storz lost his temper 22 minutes into the game and shoved another player to the ground. But to his dismay, Josef Zielonka quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-4. In the 42ndth minute of the game Josef Zielonka who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but VfB Preussen Greppin 1911's Hartwin Hammer was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-4.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Hartfrid Borchert was the one to do the kick off. Charlie Mücke who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 52ndth minute tested the skills of Hartwin Hammer when he managed to save the team from getting behind. In the 52nd match minute, VfB Preussen Greppin 1911 was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Thomas Huhn to maneuver through the defense. With a little luck, VfB Preussen Greppin 1911's Hartwin Hammer got control of the ball when Charlie Mücke tried to sneak it across the goal line. Lokomotive Leipzig's supporters crossed their fingers, but Josef Zielonka was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. A collision led to Lokomotive Leipzig getting a freekick after 66 minutes play. Werner Fock hit a great ball. After 68 played minutes Lokomotive Leipzig got a freekick which was hit by Roland Neugebauer. Hartfrid Borchert charged in rather forcefully in the 70th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Hartfrid Borchert the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After a rather tough play, VfB Preussen Greppin 1911's Hartfrid Borchert got a free kick in the 70th minute. If Charlie Mücke had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 71st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. A collision led to VfB Preussen Greppin 1911 getting a freekick after 72 minutes play. Hilbert Sing hit a great ball. Hartwin Hammer made a fantastic save in the 73rd minute, when Charlie Mücke sent off a good shot on target. After a defensive mix-up in VfB Preussen Greppin 1911's zone, Josef Zielonka stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Hartwin Hammer came out of the goal and Josef Zielonka tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. If Josef Zielonka had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 78th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 82nd minute Josef Zielonka shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Hartwin Hammer saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The audience was convinced that Josef Zielonka's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Hartwin Hammer was relentless in the 84th minute of the game. Hartfrid Borchert recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 87th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 88th match minute, Lokomotive Leipzig was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Werner Fock to maneuver through the defense. In the 90th minute, one of Lokomotive Leipzig:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Lokomotive Leipzig. In the 92nd minute there was a penalty for VfB Preussen Greppin 1911. Oliver Kromm stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Till Poll. 1-4. Josef Zielonka struck a weak shot in the 95th minute. Hartwin Hammer didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Lokomotive Leipzig. Lokomotive Leipzig's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
