Döbelner SC's Joe Mörner played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ralph Discher in the 8th minute of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 16th minute, Ralph Discher managed to get in a good position for a shot. FC Varste's supporters rose to their feet, but Ralph Discher was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Joe Mörner breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Hubert Merczak fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 18th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Joe Mörner having to interfere. After a rather tough play, Döbelner SC's Balduin Bareiß got a free kick in the 19th minute. After having played for 26 minutes, Ralph Discher managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. FC Varste's supporters crossed their fingers, but Ralph Discher was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. If Hubert Merczak had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 31st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Ralph Discher sent away a hard shot on goal in the 35th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Kevin Brosig's late challenge caught a FC Varste's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Kevin Brosig helped the player get up and apologised. After 39 played minutes Döbelner SC got a freekick which was hit by Kevin Brosig. Joe Mörner made a fantastic save in the 42nd minute, when Hubert Merczak sent off a good shot on target. In the 43rd minute, Matthias Krupp hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Günther Busch fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 46th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Joe Mörner having to interfere. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Volker Brassat was the one to do the kick off. After a rather tough play, FC Varste's Ralph Discher got a free kick in the 52nd minute. In the 52nd minute, Theo Zimmert sent off a long shot on goal, but the shot was nowhere near the goal and FC Varste's Franco Drechsler didn't even have to move. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Philip Rohrschneider during the 53rd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card.
