Spectators: 7514 (Terracing: 5636, Seating: 1728, VIP seats: 150) Simon Friedl made the kick off and thus started the match. When Oskar Auchter came up free with the goalie in the 8th minute, the Illyria fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Oskar Auchter couldn't finish the play. After having played for 14 minutes, Roy Künast managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Merl FSV's supporters crossed their fingers, but Roy Künast was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Heribert Scholl in the 15th minute of play forced Illyria's goalkeeper Benjamin Zentner to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 17th minute of the game, Tim Frankfurter landed unfortunately after trying to head the ball, and pulled a muscle in the back, so badly that he had to leave the field. After a rather tough play, Merl FSV's Toni Breuer got a free kick in the 19th minute. Toni Breuer scored 0-1 in the 24th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Benjamin Zentner, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. In the 26th minute, Johann Brömer hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 29 minutes into the game, Ladislaus Munderloh was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Merl FSV's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Illyria the free kick. A collision led to Merl FSV getting a freekick after 29 minutes play. Ladislaus Munderloh hit a great ball. In the 31st minute Toni Breuer shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Benjamin Zentner saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Nicolai Zielezinski recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 33rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Ladislaus Munderloh kicked well hit freekick during the 36th minute of the match. Lenny van Essen kicked well hit freekick during the 38th minute of the match. After a defensive mix-up in Illyria's zone, Roy Künast stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Benjamin Zentner came out of the goal and Roy Künast tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 41 minutes into the game, Toni Breuer cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-2. Benjamin Zentner was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. The goalkeeper smacked the ball away after a great corner, but Roy Künast advanced and headed the ball into goal, 0-3 in the 45th minute. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-3 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Toni Breuer to make the kick off. After 52 minutes of play Merl FSV's Ladislaus Munderloh was too eager in his attempt to stop his opponent and brought him down. With that he got his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. Ladislaus Munderloh hit a great freekick 53 minutes into the match. The supporters of Illyria booed when Merl FSV was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 57 match minutes in a wonderful position. Andi Inger didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 64th minute, Roy Künast got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Merl FSV's Lion Henschel got a good chance for a goal in the 65th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 70th match minute, Merl FSV was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Petro Roedel to maneuver through the defense. Thorsten Ahnsorge came out of the goal in the 71st minute to try and stop a shot by Illyria's Nicolai Zielezinski. But to his dismay, Nicolai Zielezinski quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-3. When Nicolai Zielezinski came up free with the goalie in the 76th minute, the Illyria fans jumped to their feet. When Willi Brechtheimer fell near the penalty area in the 78th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Merl FSV's protests and gave Willi Brechtheimer a yellow card for diving instead. After 78 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Merl FSV! Pascal Krug sent away a hard shot on goal in the 87th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Petro Roedel charged in rather forcefully in the 90th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Petro Roedel the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. If Heribert Scholl had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 97th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.
