After 19 played minutes Dondaj got a freekick which was hit by Nils Jendrossek. In the 22ndth minute of the game Roy Künast who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Dondaj's Egbert Jarosch was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. If Heribert Scholl had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 25th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Egbert Jarosch showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Heribert Scholl in the 36th minute of the match. If Roy Künast had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 38th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 41st minute of the match Mustafa Roscher sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Egbert Jarosch skillfully saved the ball. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

After some fancy dribbling in the 56th minute, Karsten Schäfer managed to get in a good position for a shot. Dondaj's supporters rose to their feet, but Karsten Schäfer was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Thorsten Ahnsorge breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. When Karsten Schäfer came up free with the goalie in the 74th minute, the Dondaj fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Karsten Schäfer couldn't finish the play. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Heribert Scholl in the 80th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Egbert Jarosch prevented the ball from getting in the gole. When Ladislaus Munderloh fell near the penalty area in the 82nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Merl FSV's protests and gave Ladislaus Munderloh a yellow card for diving instead. Ladislaus Munderloh hit a great freekick 82 minutes into the match. After a rather tough play, Dondaj's Tonio Sitzmann got a free kick in the 84th minute. After a defensive mix-up in Merl FSV's zone, Karsten Schäfer stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Thorsten Ahnsorge came out of the goal and Karsten Schäfer tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Egbert Jarosch made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Roy Künast in the 96th minute of play. The Merl FSV players were the happier at the end of the match as they had prevented Dondaj from taking control. The game ends in a draw.
