After a rather tough play, VfB Preussen Greppin 1911's Hilbert Sing got a free kick in the 17th minute. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Jim Reeb in the 18th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Hartwin Hammer saved VfB Preussen Greppin 1911 from getting behind. In the 19th minute, Thomas Huhn hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After some fancy dribbling in the 20th minute, Franz Borgers managed to get in a good position for a shot. Niedermanderscheid's supporters rose to their feet, but Franz Borgers was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Hartwin Hammer breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. A collision led to Niedermanderscheid getting a freekick after 25 minutes play. Agilo Prause hit a great ball. Hartfrid Borchert received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 26th minute. Karlheinz Sachse tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Franz Borgers took the ball and in the 30 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Hartwin Hammer. Hartwin Hammer dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-2. Niedermanderscheid's Franz Borgers got a good chance for a goal in the 33rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 35th minute Franz Borgers shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Hartwin Hammer saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in VfB Preussen Greppin 1911's zone, Franz Borgers stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Hartwin Hammer came out of the goal and Franz Borgers tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 39 minutes into the match, Niedermanderscheid's Franz Borgers sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Hartwin Hammer narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Jim Reeb received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 42nd minute. Hartwin Hammer tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Jim Reeb had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 46th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Achim Bier to make the kick off. Hartwin Hammer made an important save on a dangerous shot by Jim Reeb in the 51st minute. After having played for 60 minutes, Jim Reeb managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Niedermanderscheid's supporters crossed their fingers, but Jim Reeb was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 61st minute the ball was on its way in behind VfB Preussen Greppin 1911's goalkeeper Hartwin Hammer, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Franz Borgers's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Hartwin Hammer read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 65th minute of play. Rik Bierkamp's late challenge caught a VfB Preussen Greppin 1911's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Rik Bierkamp helped the player get up and apologised. In the 86th match minute, Niedermanderscheid was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Rik Bierkamp to maneuver through the defense. 88 minutes into the match, VfB Preussen Greppin 1911's goalkeeper Hartwin Hammer had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Jim Reeb. 89 minutes into the game, Agilo Prause was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player.
