In the 13th minute, Claudio Flöge made a precise shot to the right of Ralf Heiß. Bankholzen's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-2. After 16 played minutes Bankholzen got a freekick which was hit by Eduard Lange. In the 19th match minute, Bankholzen was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Mark Galeski to maneuver through the defense. Ralf Heiß showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Hermann Bierholz in the 23rd minute of the match. In the 23rd minute, Eduard Lange hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Mark Galeski could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 25th minute of the match, but Luis Hommertgen made a huge save. A collision led to Schötmar getting a freekick after 27 minutes play. Benny Zedler hit a great ball. Luis Hommertgen showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Rio Grundl, who was totally free with the ball in the 30th minute. If Joachim Küpper-Adebisi had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 32nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Claudio Flöge kicked well hit freekick during the 34th minute of the match. Schötmar's Luis Hommertgen proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 35th minute of the match, managed to save Schötmar from getting a goal against them. If Benny Zedler had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 39th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 1-2.

The wind increased when Claudio Flöge made the kick off in the second half. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Luis Hommertgen showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Schötmar's supporters rose to their feet, but Hermann Bierholz was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Ralf Heiß breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. If Hermann Bierholz had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 86th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. With his leg Ralf Heiß managed to avoid a goal in the 87thth minute, when Schötmar's Imre Hasebrink fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. An unexpectedly hard shot by Claudio Flöge in the 89th minute of play forced Bankholzen's goalkeeper Ralf Heiß to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball.
