To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After some careless play in the VFC Leipzig defense, Dennis Prinz kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Sixten Pluhm. The VFC Leipzig fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Sixten Pluhm should have stopped the shot. After 36 played minutes FC Wursthausen got a freekick which was hit by Gerhard Jarosch. 39 minutes into the match, FC Wursthausen's Rainald Baumeister sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Sixten Pluhm narrowly saved just below the crossbar. The supporters of VFC Leipzig booed when FC Wursthausen was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 44 match minutes in a wonderful position. Markus Hofmann didn't get a good kick on the ball.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Clint Schims to strike the kick off in the second half. The audience was convinced that Markus Hofmann's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Sixten Pluhm was relentless in the 54th minute of the game. Martin Lüthje fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 78th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Sixten Pluhm having to interfere. VFC Leipzig's Sixten Pluhm proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 80th minute of the match, managed to save VFC Leipzig from getting a goal against them. If Markus Hofmann had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 81st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 83rd minute, Markus Hofmann ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Sixten Pluhm was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-4. Dennis Prinz received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 86th minute. Sixten Pluhm tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Gerhard Jarosch had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 88th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Dennis Prinz struck a weak shot in the 90th minute.
