Lev Kuhr made a fantastic save in the 10th minute, when Holger Sachse sent off a good shot on target. With 12 minutes on the clock, Joseph Petsch commited a dangerous tackle. The wind increased when Clint Schims made the kick off in the second half. In the 55th minute Rolf Wering shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Lev Kuhr saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 56 minutes into the match, 1 FC Kaiserslautern's goal looked a bit too open when Holger Sachse came free, but Lev Kuhr reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The crowd rose to their feet as Pascal Silen kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Sixten Pluhm. That made the score 1-2 in the 58 minute of play. Sixten Pluhm stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Pascal Silen's shot from short distance in the 62nd minute. In the 65th match minute, 1 FC Kaiserslautern was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Karl Krumpen to maneuver through the defense. Pascal Silen might have been able to make a better finish in the 68th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Sixten Pluhm. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Pascal Silen ran back to his position shaking his head. If Karl Krumpen had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 69th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Jacek Wesseler's late challenge caught a VFC Leipzig's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Sixten Pluhm made a fantastic save in the 74th minute, when Pascal Silen sent off a good shot on target. After a defensive mix-up in VFC Leipzig's zone, Karl Krumpen stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Sixten Pluhm came out of the goal and Karl Krumpen tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Karl Krumpen fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 83rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Sixten Pluhm having to interfere. Gilles Reitgaßl fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 84th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Sixten Pluhm having to interfere. In the 86thth minute of the game Karl Krumpen who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but VFC Leipzig's Sixten Pluhm was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Sixten Pluhm showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Karl Krumpen in the 95th minute of the match. Torben Lücker's late challenge caught a 1 FC Kaiserslautern's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Torben Lücker helped the player get up and apologised. 1 FC Kaiserslautern's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
