The 1.FC Union Berlin fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-3. Willi Franz hit a great freekick 31 minutes into the match. In the 35th minute the ball was on its way in behind Schachmatt Kickers's goalkeeper Claas Pesch, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Hugo Heinrich's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Hermann Stenger read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 53rd minute of play.
