Kristian Biewald showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Hernan Della in the 10th minute of the match. In the 12th minute, Hernan Della ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Kristian Biewald was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. When Egon Kampeter came up free with the goalie in the 19th minute, the SV Sötenich fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Egon Kampeter couldn't finish the play. Paulo Lotter took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Egon Kampeter, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 26 played minutes SV Sötenich got a freekick which was hit by Dag Klöser. In the 29thth minute of the game Hernan Della who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but SV Sötenich's Kristian Biewald was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Hernan Della fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 34th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Kristian Biewald having to interfere. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Hernan Della in the 38th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Kristian Biewald saved SV Sötenich from getting behind. After some fancy dribbling in the 47th minute, Egon Kampeter managed to get in a good position for a shot. SV Sötenich's supporters rose to their feet, but Egon Kampeter was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Paulo Lotter breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Disappointed in the 0-2 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Egon Kampeter to make the kick off. 51 minutes into the game, Egon Kampeter was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. SV Sötenich's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Werdohl the free kick. Egon Kampeter hit a great freekick 51 minutes into the match. Werdohl played a much better game than SV Sötenich and deserved their victory. The SV Sötenich players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
