After 4 minutes, Lars Arendt mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Wohlerst FC and the Ballspiel-Verein Preußen players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 4th match minute, Wohlerst FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Lars Arendt to maneuver through the defense. After 7 minutes, Rafael Wodarg mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Ballspiel-Verein Preußen and the Wohlerst FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. After a defensive mix-up in Ballspiel-Verein Preußen's zone, August Ballas stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Ehrhard Gehlhaar came out of the goal and August Ballas tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. August Ballas recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 16th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 17 minutes into the match, Ballspiel-Verein Preußen's goal looked a bit too open when Arnold Häberle came free, but Ehrhard Gehlhaar reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Arnd Schätzle in the 20th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Rolf Potulski saved Wohlerst FC from getting behind. In the 22nd minute Arnold Häberle shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ehrhard Gehlhaar saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Arnold Häberle sent away a hard shot on goal in the 24th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling August Ballas in the 27th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Ehrhard Gehlhaar prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Ehrhard Gehlhaar came out of the goal in the 28th minute to try and stop a shot by Wohlerst FC's August Ballas. But to his dismay, August Ballas quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. 34 minutes into the game, August Ballas cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-2. Ehrhard Gehlhaar was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. The audience was convinced that August Ballas's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Ehrhard Gehlhaar was relentless in the 38th minute of the game. If Johann Bosold had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 40th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Arnold Häberle sent away a hard shot on goal in the 43rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Ehrhard Gehlhaar took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from August Ballas, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 46 minutes into the game, Achim Benken was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Ballspiel-Verein Preußen's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Wohlerst FC the free kick. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-2 lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell August Ballas to make the kick off. Arnold Häberle was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 59th minute. Wohlerst FC's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. Ballspiel-Verein Preußen's Ehrhard Gehlhaar played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by August Ballas in the 59th minute of play. When Arnd Schätzle came up free with the goalie in the 64th minute, the Ballspiel-Verein Preußen fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Arnd Schätzle couldn't finish the play. Arnold Häberle fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 67th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ehrhard Gehlhaar having to interfere. The audience thought a goal was coming when Arnold Häberle got free with Ehrhard Gehlhaar in the 71st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Arnold Häberle struck a weak shot in the 79th minute. Ehrhard Gehlhaar didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Wohlerst FC. Arnold Häberle sent away a hard shot on goal in the 82nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Ballspiel-Verein Preußen's supporters crossed their fingers, but Arnd Schätzle was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. August Ballas received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 94th minute. Ehrhard Gehlhaar tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When the match was over Wohlerst FC could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Ballspiel-Verein Preußen throughout the match.
