Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Ulrich Rzepka started the match with the kick off. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Pascal Härle during the 4th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After 4 played minutes Schmiedefeld Am Rennsteig got a freekick which was hit by Pascal Härle. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Ulrich Rzepka in the 5th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Manfred Mezger prevented the ball from getting in the gole. FC Bayern's Hugo Mach played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Karl Martin Nobs in the 11th minute of play. Pascal Härle fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 16th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Hugo Mach having to interfere. With an all-out effort, Schmiedefeld Am Rennsteig's Hugo Mach threw himself towards the right post 18 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Karl Martin Nobs, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. In the 19th minute, Ulrich Rzepka got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Pascal Härle sent away a hard shot on goal in the 22nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Pascal Härle could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 24th minute of the match, but Hugo Mach made a huge save. The audience was convinced that Ulrich Rzepka's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Manfred Mezger was relentless in the 26th minute of the game. When Karl Martin Nobs came up free with the goalie in the 30th minute, the Schmiedefeld Am Rennsteig fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Karl Martin Nobs couldn't finish the play. Hugo Mach made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Karl Martin Nobs in the 34th minute of play. In the 36th match minute, FC Bayern was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Bernt Schultz to maneuver through the defense. Hugo Mach was in exellent shape and made a fantastic save when he, in the 37th minute of the match, managed to get hold of the ball after a long shot from Louis Berland. FC Bayern's Hugo Mach played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Karl Martin Nobs in the 40th minute of play. Maik Grassow blasted a shot towards the goal in the 43rd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Manfred Mezger having to make a save. Jürgen Wiechmann kicked well hit freekick during the 46th minute of the match. After 47 played minutes, FC Bayern's Louis Wittkamp shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Manfred Mezger came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in FC Bayern reached it. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.

An unexpectedly hard shot by Ulrich Rzepka in the 54th minute of play forced Schmiedefeld Am Rennsteig's goalkeeper Manfred Mezger to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Clemens Jahn's late challenge caught a FC Bayern's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Clemens Jahn helped the player get up and apologised. In the 56th minute, Clemens Jahn hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Manfred Mezger acted impressively in front of the goal and made a superb save when he, in the 57th minute, took the ball on the long shot from Louis Wittkamp. Karl Martin Nobs might have been able to make a better finish in the 79th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Hugo Mach. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Karl Martin Nobs ran back to his position shaking his head. In the 88th minute Ulrich Rzepka shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Manfred Mezger saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The crowd rose to their feet as FC Bayern's Ulrich Rzepka slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Manfred Mezger. That made the score 1-1 after 90 minutes of play. In the 95th minute Karl Martin Nobs shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Hugo Mach saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The crowd rose to their feet as FC Bayern's Maik Grassow slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Manfred Mezger. That made the score 1-2 after 96 minutes of play. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. FC Bayern walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
