Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Robbie Nergert started the match with the kick off. After some fancy dribbling in the 9th minute, Sammy Schultheiss managed to get in a good position for a shot. SK Rapid Nord's supporters rose to their feet, but Sammy Schultheiss was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Alfred Appelt breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. When Sammy Schultheiss fell near the penalty area in the 11th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored SK Rapid Nord's protests and gave Sammy Schultheiss a yellow card for diving instead. Sammy Schultheiss kicked well hit freekick during the 11th minute of the match. Torben Gellrich didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Pat Neubrandt went, in the 18th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. A collision led to SK Rapid Nord getting a freekick after 21 minutes play. Ibrahim Stehr hit a great ball. After having played for 22 minutes, Otmar Krone managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. 1. FC Lokomotive Leipzig's supporters crossed their fingers, but Otmar Krone was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. With a little luck, 1. FC Lokomotive Leipzig's Alfred Appelt got control of the ball when Robbie Nergert tried to sneak it across the goal line. SK Rapid Nord's Ibrahim Stehr pulled a muscle in his leg after 29 minutes and couldn't finish the game. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Otmar Krone during the 29th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. 32 minutes into the match, SK Rapid Nord's goal looked a bit too open when Pat Neubrandt came free, but Torben Gellrich reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Alfred Appelt showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Christoph Wurm, who was totally free with the ball in the 36th minute. SK Rapid Nord's Torben Gellrich played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Otmar Krone in the 48th minute of play. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Christian Waitz was the one to do the kick off. FC Lokomotive Leipzig's goalkeeper Alfred Appelt, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Christoph Wurm received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 58th minute. Alfred Appelt tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. During the 61st minute of the match Sammy Schultheiss completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Sammy Schultheiss a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. In the 61st match minute, SK Rapid Nord was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Sammy Schultheiss to maneuver through the defense. When the match had been going on for 68 minutes, 1. FC Lokomotive Leipzig's Addo Wollny got an opportunity to shoot a penalty. He stayed cool and waited for the goalkeeper to move, before he confidently shot the ball into the goal, to the left of Torben Gellrich. In the 73rd minute, Stephan Kitzmann got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 75 minutes into the match, Karel Inderhees had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Alfred Appelt. 1. FC Lokomotive Leipzig's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Karel Inderhees was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-2. If Karel Inderhees had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 79th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. SK Rapid Nord's Christoph Wurm got a good chance for a goal in the 81st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Karel Inderhees received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 83rd minute. Alfred Appelt tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Christoph Wurm had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 85th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Karel Inderhees fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 86th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Alfred Appelt having to interfere. Otmar Krone scored 2-3 in the 88th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Torben Gellrich, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. A collision led to 1. FC Lokomotive Leipzig getting a freekick after 91 minutes play. Mark Spaniol hit a great ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Otmar Krone got free with Torben Gellrich in the 94th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Torben Gellrich was out of position in the 96 minute of play, and Otmar Krone capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Otmar Krone really showed his touch with that goal: 2-4. 1. FC Lokomotive Leipzig were delighted with the way they had won the match. They had held their defensive line well and made the most of their chances, to claim a victory over SK Rapid Nord's much stronger midfield.
