The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 23rd minute Rudolf Treusch shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Will Zehle saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 26 minutes into the match, SpVg Eicha's goal looked a bit too open when Paul Weinmann came free, but Will Zehle reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Gretel Bruhn to make the kick off. SpVg Eicha's supporters crossed their fingers, but Gretel Bruhn was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. When Hellengerst FSV's Rudolf Treusch, in the 65th minute, received a pass right in front of the net, it looked like a certain goal, but his shot went outside. A wasted opportunity for Hellengerst FSV. Paul Weinmann received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 68th minute. Will Zehle tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Gretel Bruhn's late challenge caught a Hellengerst FSV's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Eckhard Billmann showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Leif Brossart in the 81st minute of the match. Rudolf Treusch sent away a hard shot on goal in the 85th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Will Zehle stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Rudolf Treusch's shot from short distance in the 88th minute. In the 92nd minute Jochen Stübgen shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Will Zehle saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Eckhard Billmann came out of the goal in the 94th minute to try and stop a shot by SpVg Eicha's Gregor Hupach. But to his dismay, Gregor Hupach quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-3. Hellengerst FSV's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
