The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 4th minute, Rudolf Treusch left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Hellengerst FSV fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. The audience was convinced that Rudolf Treusch's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Jakob Bleibtreu was relentless in the 12th minute of the game. After 14 played minutes Hellengerst FSV got a freekick which was hit by Jochen Stübgen. A hard shot by Elard Asmus from long distance, 15 minutes into the match, got Eckhard Billmann's attention. Through a fast twist with his body, he could stop the ball from going in on his right side. Jakob Bleibtreu made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Paul Weinmann in the 17th minute of play. In the 18th match minute, Hersfelder Jungs was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Arend Ulbricht to maneuver through the defense. Uwe Weippert hit a great freekick 24 minutes into the match. Hersfelder Jungs's Jakob Bleibtreu played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Paul Weinmann in the 27th minute of play. Hellengerst FSV's Eckhard Billmann played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Heinrich Faber in the 34th minute of play. The supporters of Hersfelder Jungs booed when Hellengerst FSV was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 34 match minutes in a wonderful position. Lars Kriwat didn't get a good kick on the ball. Rudolf Treusch fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 38th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jakob Bleibtreu having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Paul Weinmann in the 43rd minute of play forced Hersfelder Jungs's goalkeeper Jakob Bleibtreu to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Heinrich Faber fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 45th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Eckhard Billmann having to interfere. After the first half Hellengerst FSV were leading 0-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

When Rudolf Treusch came up free with the goalie in the 51st minute, the Hellengerst FSV fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Rudolf Treusch couldn't finish the play. Hellengerst FSV's Rudolf Treusch got a good chance for a goal in the 53rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Heinrich Faber recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 56th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Eckhard Billmann showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Heinrich Faber, who was totally free with the ball in the 58th minute. Dario Nabor hit a great freekick 59 minutes into the match. Vlado Heeringa received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 60th minute. Eckhard Billmann tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. With a little luck, Hersfelder Jungs's Jakob Bleibtreu got control of the ball when Lars Kriwat tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 70th minute, Rudolf Treusch left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. Jochen Stübgen's late challenge caught a Hersfelder Jungs's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Jochen Stübgen didn't get a good kick on the ball. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Rudolf Treusch in the 76th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Jakob Bleibtreu prevented the ball from getting in the gole. After a rather tough play, Hersfelder Jungs's Maximilian Kritzer got a free kick in the 78th minute. 78 minutes into the match, Hellengerst FSV's Ronald Holldorf broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. Jakob Bleibtreu was out of position in the 81 minute of play, and Rudolf Treusch capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Rudolf Treusch really showed his touch with that goal: 0-4. If Paul Weinmann had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 85th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Jakob Bleibtreu made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Rudolf Treusch in the 88th minute of play. If Rudolf Treusch had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 91st minute.
