Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Arthur Link in the 30th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Hartmut Hutter prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Ole Kühn sent away a hard shot on goal in the 31st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Ole Kühn scored 0-1 in the 35th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Hartmut Hutter, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Eberhard Jösting fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 40th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Hartmut Hutter having to interfere. Matthias Barnick scored 0-2 in the 42nd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Hartmut Hutter, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Ole Kühn took the ball and in the 45 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Hartmut Hutter. Hartmut Hutter dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-3. After the first half TSV 1860 München were leading 0-3. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

If Matthias Barnick had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 79th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The audience thought a goal was coming when Matthias Barnick got free with Hartmut Hutter in the 84th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. With a little luck, Fontes Baderae's Hartmut Hutter got control of the ball when Hannes Brandmann tried to sneak it across the goal line.
